Directions for use:
Besides the guidelines set by your health care provider, the following directions can be followed.
Direction for use Indwelling catheter
1. Draw up 30ml of Microdox® using a sterile catheter syringe This will require the solution to be either decanted into a sterile kidney dish or a sterile catheter can be attached to the syringe and inserted into the bottle.
2. Gently instil up to 30ml* of Microdox® through the catheter into an empty bladder This will require disconnection of the catheter to the leg bag your healthcare professional will advise how to manage the leg bag catheter connection
3. Clamp the catheter or use a catheter valve to close off catheter outflow to ensure the Microdox® remains in the bladder for 10 minutes.
4. Release the catheter clamp or open the catheter valve and drain the bladder completely
Direction for use Intermittent catheter
1. Draw up 30ml of Microdox® using a sterile catheter syringe This will require the solution to be either decanted into a sterile kidney dish or a sterile catheter can be attached to the syringe and inserted into the bottle.
2. Perform an intermittent catheter as normal to drain the bladder
3. Leave the intermittent catheter in-situ and connect the Microdox filled syringe
4. Gently instil up to 30ml* of Microdox® through the catheter into an empty bladder
5. Remove the catheter, disposing of the catheter and syringe
6. Mobilise and repeat an intermittent catheter in 10 minutes, ensuring the bladder is completely empty
Acute Treatment In the case of symptomatic UTI follow the directions as above being sure to repeat this application twice daily for 5 days
Post – Acute Treatment Upon completion of the 5 day treatment course. Rinse once daily for a further 5 days
Prophylaxis Microdox may be used daily or as required to help reduce: biofilm blockages, biofilm recurrence & infections
Instillation volumes should be directed by your healthcare professional. If you have a neurogenic bladder or dysreflexia only use Microdox as directed by your healthcare professional. Where possible mobilization of the body will aid in effectively dispersing Microdox throughout the bladder. Sequential rinses may be required to resolve severe infections
